School Report - June '03

The month of June brings in a lot of adventure and excitement in a student's life. It brings in a sense of nervousness as one comes across new subjects, new teachers and another year of challenges. But, talking about the young men and women who write the CBSE Board Examinations in the month of March, June brings the results of their hard work and commitment. Vidya Mandir is proud of students like Sidharth K. Thotadri (485/500 in CBSE XII exams) and TR Rahul (481/500 in CBSE X exams). We had five students scoring a centum in Computer Science and two students in Accounts from the XII STD. Seven students from the X STD scored 100/100 in Mathematics.

XII Std.

All these students and many others were recognised by the School on the Annual Day, when Dr Salim Thomas, the Chief Guest presented them with prizes. Apart from the CBSE results, we mustn't forget the name of Ravishankar who was ranked All India 86 in the IIT-JEE in May 2003.

But VM is not all about results and IIT. Its about maintaining relationships with the alumni of the school (Alumni Induction), its about sports (Alumni Basketball match between the Alumni and the XII std. Batch-of course, the present XII std students ruled the court!!), its about workshops for students and teachers alike (take the Biotech workshop for example) and how can we forget the clubs that were inaugurated this month. The SPAM, the Literary and Dramatics Club, the Commerce Club, Concurrence-the Mathematics Club and Effervescence - the Chemistry Club were all formally inaugurated this month. A new club called The Heritage Club came into existence that, as the name suggests focuses on the culture and heritage of the country, involving the various architectural and cultural wonders of the people of this country.
