CEMD

The Centre of Educational Management and Development (CEMD), New Delhi has been conducting a post Graduate in Educational Leadership Programme (ELP) and has trained 18 batches. Vidya Mandir, in collaboration with CEMD hosted the 1st Chennai batch during the academic year 2004 - 2005.

Mrs.Bhavani Raghunandan is a  co-facilitator along with Mrs Jayashree Oza and Miss Sheba Maini who are the faculty members

Two of our teachers Mrs. Maheshwari Natarajan and Mrs. Shoba Raman have undergone the training.

The course involved 3 contact sessions of which the first two were held in the months of July and December '04 and the third one was an outbound programme at Kodaikanal during May '05.

The course content was based on aspects of Facilitative Leadership, Instructional Leadership and Institutional Leadership. It also involves the completion of a Portfolio of practice-based study.

CEMD had its 2 nd Batch in 2006-07. It is now being sponsored by the Kuruvilla Jacob Core Committee. Mrs Sudha Suresh and Mrs Vidya Vagheesh  have been certified

The session for the 3 rd batch of senior teachers and Principals will start in September 2007.Mrs Sushila Sampath Kumar and Mrs Vasumathi have completed the year long programme

The 4th batch of 39 senior teachers and principals have just completed their first module. Mrs Chitra and Mrs Vimla Balaji from our school have joined this batch

Mrs Sumitra Ravichandran will be joining the 2009-10 batch

Transportation
Two School buses are available for the daily transport of the children . These buses are also used for excursions and other outings.In addition we also have 2 vans.

Tours & Trips

The Himalayan trekking expedition was the highlight of last year's excitement. So was the recent trip to Mount Abu and Gir forest.

Last summer 08 we had two batches of 45 students each going on the Himalayan trek

These are in addition to the class excursions

Canteen

The canteen is a favorite of the children from 6-12. The favourites being gobi manchurian and mancurian rice -in addition to all the yummy snacks  , breakfast and lunches that are served. we do not serve chips or bottled drinks.We also have a stall that sells all natural ice creams with no artificial colouring or flavours.

The Vidya Ganapathy temple

The temple is a favorite place of many staff and students alike. we have regular poojas and celebrate ganapathy pooja and special poojas regularly. This God has helped us tide over many situations and kept the major crises away. The school runs with His grace. we hope He will continue to bless us always.
