I would like to recollect the past year on this occasion and review a few of the noted achievements.

Last year was a bumper year in terms of awards and firsts. Our student Sai Krishnan scored the highest ever in the12 th std exams 486/ 500.The year before Siddharth Thotadri scored 484 and being among the top few of the CBSE toppers was invited to the Republic day Parade and was given a seat in the President’s box.

Our student Ashwath Rabindranath was adjudged the 1st runner up in the India Child Genius –Star World’s prestigious Quiz contest. He was awarded Rs.5 lakhs. He along with Akshay Rangamani won a trip to Mauritius in The Quiz conducted by the Dakshin Chitra. Recently he and Jaydev Bhaskar won the National Eischer Quiz. When pitted against each other for the Best Quizzer award,Ashwath won himself a Scooty.

We owe the other feather in our cap to our student APP Ganesh whose invention was awarded a patent.

For the past two years our students have been invited by the Singapore Technologies Educational programme to Singapore on a cultural interaction programme to interact with students from the ASEAN countries and Britain. This year they made a presentation on the Youth of India and presented a cultural programme. Mrs.Sumitra a senior teacher accompanied them.

In the past two years we have among the few schools invited to participate in the national Model UN, one held in Bombay and the other in Delhi. One of our students among them was selected to represent India in the model UN held in Singapore to air her views on the Kashmir Issue

Three of our students went to Denver as young Ambassadors.

J Prashanth made a presentation on Red Rover Lands on Marsand was selected at the National Level of NASA’s endeavour to spot young scientists world wide.

In the past few years our students have qualified at various levels for the Maths,Physics ,Chemistry and Biology Olympiads.

Every year several of them get into the IITs and prestigious Medical and Law schools.

We have introduced Audio Visual Education by installing a TV and a computer with well developed modules for supplementing our teaching. We hope to extend it into other classes next year. The Hindu’s Newspaper in Education programme is being conducted in the middle school.Procter and Gamble is conducting a health care programme for parents and children of the middle school.

Our students have also been winning the trophies at the cultural programmes hosted by other schools in the city. Preeti Nedumaran toured China to perform Bharata Natyam and Sridharini toured the US with a team.

In sports our students have won the PC Sekhar memorial under 13 Cricket tournament twice. We hope to retain and claim the trophy as our own next year. We also won the Sportstar sponsored under 13 Vidya Mandir tournament. Our student Nivedita is representing the State at the national TT tournament

The Himalayan trekking expedition was the highlight of last year’s excitement. So was the recent trip to Mount Abu and Gir forest.

Our faculty is not far behind .It was a year of accolades for them too. Mr.Kothandaraman Vice principal and the legendary Maths teacher won the award for the Best Maths Teacher from the Srinivasa Ramanujam Academy. Mrs Shobha Raman, Our Chemistry Teacher was adjudged the first national runner up by the Rustom Irani Foundation, Bombay .The award is called Award for Teacher Excellence –Unsung Heroes no longer. She has also been short listed among the two nationally for a teacher exchange programme to be sponsored by the USEFI.

Mrs.Vidya Vagheesh visited the US Kentucky, through the Group Exchange programme.

Teacher training has been high on our agenda. The WIPRO sponsored programme Applying thought in schools, through their associates Eazy Vidya conducted for the primary teachers a year long programme which touched upon all the skills required by the teachers.

This year the new Audio Visual room was inaugurated .A training center was started along with the Centre for Educational Management and Development New Delhi for specialized training for principals. 25 principals from all over Tamil Nadu and Bangalore are attending the programme . The programme consists of 3 modules the last of which is slated to be held at Kodaikanal. The next batch will commence in October.

The Principal was invited by the CBSE to make a presentation on the Use of Technology in enhancing creativity in Education at the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the CBSE in New Delhi. She is also a resource person with the CBSE for training principals of other affiliated schools. She was one of the very few invited by the British Deputy High Commissioner to a reception to honour the Queen.

The school has also been very generous in donating cash and kind to victims of natural disasters. 1.5 lakhs was collected towards the relief of the Tsunami victims, and equal amounts have been donated earlier to the Gujarat quake victims and Orissa cyclone victims.

We are happy to have been able to uphold the standards set by our predecessors and by God’s grace hope that we will continue to do so in future.
