Extra Curricular Activities
Scouts
Mr R S Mani is the Scout Master, the scouts take an active
participation during all school functions.
Yoga
Yoga Rakshana conducts yoga for classes 6th and 7th during
the general classes. With a view to improve concentration.
A group of teachers too underwent a session in Yoga - specifically
focusing on voice and calf muscles.
Dance: Conducted by Mrs. Roja Venkatachalam on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3.00 pm – 4.30 pm
Music: Conducted by Mrs. V. Nandini on Wednesdays and Fridays from 3.00 pm – 4.30 pm
Karate:
Conducted by Sensei S. Vikram on Saturdays and Sundays from 2.30 pm – 4.00 pm
Arts: Conducted by Mrs. Vidya on Wednesdays and Fridays from 3.15 pm – 4.15 pm.
Bulbul & Guides: The Bulbulls and Guides meet
for regular classes in the school on Sundays between 8.30a.m.
and 9.45 a.m. They learn chorus singing pioneering compass
mapping and go on trekking and mountaineering on a regular
basis. They have an annual camp in December.
RSP: The school
has an active RSP group comprising of 50 cadets under the
guidance and training of Mr. V. Vishwanathan (Teacher and
Traffic Warden). They are also trained by Mr.
Subramaniam of Mylapore Police Station. They control the
flow of traffic near the school main gate and Kalvivaru
Street. The functioning of RSP has made the flow of
traffic easy. From 2009 onwards, many of our cadets have been
selected for the state Republic Day Parade held at Marina.
Cricket
The School is very well-recognized in
cricketing circles and TNCA coaches offer training. Classes
are conducted for different age group of student from 3.30pm
to 5.30 pm on all days. For the past 7 years we have been
holding a prestigious tournament sponsored by Sportstar for
the Under 13 category.
Another first from Vidya Mandir . We have started a
Girls' Cricket team and coaching for it is underway
Basket ball
The School offers basketball coaching by 'A' division
coaches from the ICF.
For the past 5 years we have been hosting an invitation Basketball
inter school tournament sponsored and conducted by the PTA
