To encourage maximum Participation School day is conducted for KG, Primary & High school on different days.

Reflections
The School hosts an inter-school cultural competition called Reflections with many schools participating.

Entrenous

This is an inter class cultural competition between Std 10, 11 and 12.

Comfest
A Cultural Fest conducted by the Commerce Department is held along with Reflections.


Inter House English Dramatics
Dramatics competition between the four houses of classes X, XI & XII are held. The plays are directed and enacted by the students themselves with almost no help from the teachers.The best play is put up for school day.

Sports day
The event starts traditionally with the lighting of the torch by previous years champions, the oath is taken by the sports secretary and there is a colourful march past by the students of all the houses from class IX to XII, followed by sports events. The day ends with an exhibition Mass Drill by students of classes VI, VII and VIII.

Investiture Ceremony

This was started in 1998 to induct the new prefects. It is a solemn occasion with the school taking the oath. It is held along with the Republic Day celebrations

Project Day

This is held on Childrens' Day. It showcases the models ,charts and working models made by the students on certain topics and themes.


SPAM
The Society for Promotion and Appreciation of Music better known as SPAM is one of Vidya Mandir's most well known clubs. The SPAM consists of students from class 6 to 12. Various activities and programmes are organized by the club to inculcate love for music in all its members. These include the SPAM / PTA interclass competitions. The club members also participate in a number of inter-school competitions. This club also organizes informative sessions on music. Well -known artists preside over these meetings. Inter-school music competitions are organized during the "REFLECTIONS". SPAM keeps the music alive in our lives.

Commerce Club
The Commerce club is an extension of the Commerce Department and its aim is to foster entrepreneurship among the students.

Arts Club

This was started in 2006.Under its auspices various interesting workshops like water colour painting, quilling etc are conducted

Interact club

This is part of the Rotary Club and is one of the oldest in the City. We have been awarded the Best Club award for 3 yeras. The activities like visiting old age homes, destitute childrens' homes , collecting money towards various genuine causes like Tsunami victim rehabilitation etc sensitise the children to the underprivileged and instil a sense of service in them

Concurrence
Concurrence, the maths club of our school was inaugurated in 2002 to promote students with an interest in the subject. A number of lectures, quizzes, competitive exams and other such enjoyable activities are held frequently every year. The club aims at learning mathematics in a pleasurable and fun filled manner.

Nature Club

The conducts regular field trips, treks, nature walk. The students of classes 7 to 9 are the members.They also name the trees in the campus

Heritage Club
The club is functioning under the guidance of INTACH(Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) and has attracted several members, both boys and girls over the past two years. The Club's emphasis is on Culture, Tradition and Heritage. The club carries out various activities like Workshops, Competitions etc.,

Literary and Dramatics Club
The club has completed nearly 6 years with over 150 members every year. The members of this club always seem to have a busy schedule making props or watching plays put up by Contemporary Theatre Groups like Evam, Masquerade and Little Theater. The club has conducted several workshops on Creative Writing and on Poem Reading in the British Council, for its members. A crossword competition to encourage the members and a Scrabble Tourney to develop vocabulary are also held. The members of the club look forward to several more years filled with fun and frolic.

Effervescence
The Effervescence, our chemistry club, is open to Class XI and Class XII subject enthusiasts. These highly active people indulge in activities such as Quiz, Sudoku, Crosswords and Dumb-Charades etc (in Chemistry!) and undertake two field trips a year. They also conduct “BONDS” an interschool Chemfest, every alternate year.

Exnora Club
The club conducts the Students' Exnora Program, an environment awareness program for students of class VIII. They conduct field trips, programs in civic consciousness, environmental issues etc.

Cricket :

The School is very well-recognised in cricketing circles and TNCA coaches offer training. This year we have won the major trophies in the under 14, under 12 and under 10 categories.

For the past 7 years we have been holding a prestigious tournament sponsored by Sportstar for the Under 13 category

For the second year our under 13 team has won the P S Memorial under 13 tournament

A first again from Vidya Mandir. We are the first school to start a Girls' Cricket team. Coaching has started and we hope the team will also do the school proud.

Basket ball :

The School offers basketball coaching by 'A' division coaches from the ICF.

Students enroll by paying a nominal fee. Talented students are sent for Inter-house and Inter-school matches.

For the past 5 years we have been hosting an invitation Basketball inter school tournament sponsored and conducted by the PTA

This year 2008 we shall be hosting and conducting the CBSE Cluster V Basket ball meet.

Volley ball

Our alumni have sponsored the interstate , interschool volley ball tournament for the past 30 years or so. The number of participants has grown to 25 teas each for the boys and girls

After - school coaching is also provided for dance, music, yoga and karate.

Atheletics coaching
We are coaching for a few atheletic events as well.

Football seems to be fast catching up as a popular sport
